Oklahoma ranked No. 5 in economic outlook

by The 100 Companies

“Rich States, Poor States,” an annual report recently released by economists at the American Legislative Exchange Council (ALEC), ranked Oklahoma as No. 5 in the country for its economic outlook.

ALEC creates its rankings of economic trajectories on a state’s current standing in 15 categories that are influenced by state policies.

Not surprisingly, businesses are drawn to states with low taxes for corporations and individuals and those that are dedicated to a policy of fiscal responsibility.

Oklahoma ranked high in four categories:

• Tax expenditure limits.

• Top marginal personal income tax rate.

• Property tax burden.

• Top marginal corporate income tax rate.
