Oklahoma is ranked sixth in the nation for the number of women murdered by men. This epidemic affects people of all demographics and communities; in fact, one in five women will experience some type of domestic abuse in their lifetime.
Nonprofit organizations, such as the YWCA in Oklahoma City, work every day to give these women a safe place to be, the resources to get on their feet, and the protection and support needed to leave their abuser.
As Oklahomans, we need to support these women and show them we care and are here to help them heal and strive.
