National research has shown that positive relationships between a child and an older mentor can have a direct and measurable impact on the child’s life. Big Brothers Big Sisters (BBBS) of Oklahoma focuses on providing children facing adversity with a strong, enduring relationship that provides one-on-one mentorship to change their lives for the better.
Research shows after 18 months of spending time with their “Bigs,” the Little Brother or Sister participating in the BBBS program were less likely to begin using illegal drugs or alcohol, skip school, or exhibit signs of aggression.
