General Thomas Stafford, a revered former astronaut, is currently in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) in Weatherford, where he was born in 1930. The mayor of Weatherford shared that Stafford is showing some improvement.
An accomplished astronaut, Stafford’s legacy includes piloting the first rendezvous in space and commanding the Apollo X mission, which helped prepare for the first Moon landing. After retiring from the space program, Stafford had an impressive and expansive career, which included becoming a major general in the Air Force and serving as an advisor to NASA.
