Lt. Drew Wofford from Oklahoma City made the news recently when he and a fellow member of the Navy launched a C-2A Greyhound, attached to the Fleet Logistics Squadron on the flight deck of the U.S. Navy’s only forward-deployed aircraft carrier – the USS Ronald Reagan – in the Philippine Sea.
The USS Ronald Reagan is a nuclear-powered aircraft carrier christened in 2001. It’s homeport is Yokosuka, Japan, and it protects U.S. maritime interests in the Indo-Pacific region.
There are approximately 350,000 people on active duty in the U.S. Navy with approximately 490 ships in active service and the reserve fleet.
