Mick talks MAPS 4 and Thunder Win

I’m old enough to remember voting for MAPS in 1993. Ron Norick was the mayor. I didn’t know him well but he seemed like a good, honest guy.

That first MAPS passed with 53% of the vote. Today, few people will admit to voting against it because, eventually, it changed everything. As I voted to pass it, I admitted to friends that, of all the MAPS projects, the idea of building a canal in that abandoned warehouse district called Bricktown seemed crazy.

But fast forward 26 years to today, Bricktown has 7 million annual visitors. Guess it turned out okay.
