We all know the saying, “breakfast is the most important meal of the day,” but when the reality of the work day starts, many are in such a hurry they end up just grabbing a cup of joe.

Here’s how to add a quick protein in the AM:

1. Grab a microwave-friendly mug.

2. Crack anywhere between one to three eggs, season with salt/pepper, and add cooked ingredients like ham or bell peppers.

3. Cook on high and stir halfway through cooking time: (one egg: 1 minute; two eggs: 1 minute, 15 seconds; three eggs: 1.5 minutes).

The Grill: Use a good-quality grill – thick, heavy grates matter. Make sure they’re properly seasoned, which is similar to seasoning cast iron. Apply a cooking oil to the grates and heat until the oil cooks off.

Wood smoke: Put wood chips in a foil pouch directly over heat for a slightly smoky flavor.

Location: Pretty much everything can go over direct heat, but after it’s properly marked, move to the edges for even cooking.

Oklahoma’s latest legislative session brought modernization to the state’s liquor laws. All authored by Sen. Stephanie Bice (R-OKC), these measures will take effect in October 2018:

• Senate Bill 411, grants breweries and liquor stores extended hours, allowing breweries to serve alcohol until 2 a.m. and package liquor stores to begin operation at 8 a.m.

• Senate Bill 211, signed into law May 25 by Gov. Fallin, puts Sunday liquor sales to a vote in Oklahoma counties.

• State Question 792, which was approved in November 2016, will allow grocery stores to sell wine and full-strength beer in 2018.
