Oklahoma’s latest legislative session brought modernization to the state’s liquor laws. All authored by Sen. Stephanie Bice (R-OKC), these measures will take effect in October 2018:
- Senate Bill 411, grants breweries and liquor stores extended hours, allowing breweries to serve alcohol until 2 a.m. and package liquor stores to begin operation at 8 a.m.
- Senate Bill 211, signed into law May 25 by Gov. Fallin, puts Sunday liquor sales to a vote in Oklahoma counties.
- State Question 792, which was approved in November 2016, will allow grocery stores to sell wine and full-strength beer in 2018.

Stay cool this summer, and try something different with a cold caipirinha (ki-pee-REEN-yah). The caipirinha is Brazil’s national cocktail and a cousin of the margarita. The drink is made with Cachaça (kah-SHAH-sah), Brazil’s national spirit. Cachaça is made from fresh-pressed, unprocessed sugar cane juice.
