Co-Leadership Model in CRE

by Leah Steinberg

In an industry historically dominated by men, Urban Land Institute highlighted an architecture firm focused on an inclusiveculture. Gensler, the world’s largest design firm, prefers a co-leadership model – with many offices led by one male and onefemale, finding complementary strengths offer better results.

While the firm is known for promoting women to senior-level leadership, it encourages all aspects of diversity in itsdevelopment program. Gensler’s approach welcomes top performers, resulting in promoting a significant number of women.

As the commercial real estate industry increasingly diversifies, Gensler’s example of developing leaders and collaboration is tobe commended.
