Girl Scouts Troop 3469 member Katie Francis broke the world record in cookie sales with 21,477 boxes in 2014 and again in 2015 with 22,200.
Her marketing plan is simple: “Be original.” Former 1980s record holder Elizabeth Brinton gave her great advice to “think outside the box.” “My way of doing that is singing and dancing at my booth,” said Katie. “There’s more to cookies than what’s in the box, and that’s true. I can make a difference in the world.”
She hopes to sell 100,000 boxes by 2017 – the 100th anniversary of the Girl Scout cookie.
