Rumors circulating in the college athletics world were recently confirmed, as The University of Oklahoma announced its intent to withdraw from the Big 12 Conference. Over the course of approximately a week, the school informed the Big 12 they would leave after their current media rights deal expires and immediately began seeking membership into the esteemed Southeastern Conference (SEC). Shortly after, the SEC unanimously voted to extend an invitation to Oklahoma, which the board of regents accepted.
The move has already shaken things up, and by 2025, if not earlier, we’ll be cheering on the Sooners to an SEC championship.
