Breaking one national record is a big deal, but breaking it twice is cause for major celebration.
In 2016 and 2017, Tulsa native Sarah Kopsky broke the national 3,000-yard freestyle record (120 laps in a standard 25-yard pool) at the US Masters Swimming Championship in the 75-79 age group. Her time was 51 minutes and 17.29 seconds.
At 75 years old, Kopsky’s success begins with a disciplined training regiment, swimming up to four to five times a week. This dedication to swimming is an inspiration to others and a testament to a life of health.
