Threatt Service Station

Reverend Allen Threatt III speaks on his family’s service station that served African American travelers and locals.

Threatt Service Station was built in 1915. Reverend Allen Threatt III, whose family owned the station, reminisces on what the service station meant to those who would come and go throughout its years of operation on Route 66 near Luther.

“When people were traveling from west coast to east coast, if they weren’t in a big hurry, they could park their RV and hang out for a while,” Threatt said.

Even though the station is no longer in operation, Threatt says he’d like for it to be restored into a restaurant with gas pumps to remind others of its golden days.
