Alfred Hitchcock’s 1960 masterpiece “Psycho” is an oft-watched film to this day around Halloween, but did you know a native Oklahoman stars in the film?

Vera Miles plays the role of Lila Crane, one of the guests at the Bates Motel. Miles was born in Oklahoma’s own Boise City. She lived there and in Kansas prior to moving to Hollywood and working under one of the movie industry’s greatest directors.

Lila Crane arguably became Miles’ most famous role, but she also starred in several other films including “The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance” alongside John Wayne and James Stewart.
