Oklahoma takes pride in its Native American history and culture, especially the Cherokee Nation.
The Cherokee Nation just debuted Sequoyah’s Cabin Museum, its newest museum attraction in Sallisaw. Sequoyah was a vital part of Cherokee history, as he invented the syllabary they used for communication and writing.
Opened on June 29, Sequoyah’s Cabin was an elaborate project from the Cherokee Nation. In November of 2016, the Oklahoma Historical Society signed over operations for the project to the Cherokee Nation in order to finish construction on the cabin.
The Cherokee Nation exhibits are open Tuesday through Saturday from 10AM to 4PM.
