February is Black History Month nationwide. Here are some ways to celebrate it around our state:
• Descendants of the Black 1000: Flight from Oklahoma Black Towns to Canada – An exhibit at the Oklahoma Contemporary Arts Center featuring photographs, interviews and archival materials that examines the international reach of Black history in Oklahoma. The center has additional great programming for Black History Month, which can be found here.
• Abfillage – Explore Aluu Prosper’s art at the Tulsa Artists’ Coalition Gallery. Prosper was born in Nigeria and makes “figurative and expressive paintings, some of which he calls Abfillage.”
