Modern Easter traditions have deep historical roots

Does your family buy new outfits for Easter? An old superstition says that if you wear new clothing on Easter, you will have good luck for the year.

Easter eggs are a symbol of fertility and rebirth in many cultures. In Medieval Europe, a priest used to throw an egg to one of his choir boys, who would continue tossing the egg among his peers. The person left holding the egg at noon would win the egg.

And, the act of painting eggs comes from a Ukrainian tradition of decorating eggs to recognize Gods and Goddesses of health and fertility.
