Back-to-school time is exciting, yet many families and students experience major stress during this transition. Here are three tips to stay positive, healthy and out of detention:

1. Give your kids responsibility: Have them create their shopping list and increase their involvement in the process. This gives you a break and teaches them independence.

2. De-clutter and organize: This may seem obvious, but be sure to allocate time to start the year organized.

3. Breathe consciously and schedule alone time: During stressful times we often fail to breathe deeply. Conscious breathing helps manage emotions and stress.
