Kickapoo Turnpike

This month, the northern portion of the Kickapoo Turnpike in Eastern Oklahoma County opened to Oklahoma travelers.

The ribbon cutting was celebrated on Tuesday, Oct. 13 with a virtual opening ceremony where attendees heard from Gov. Stitt and Kickapoo Chairman David Pacheco Jr. Prominent Oklahoma figures and football stars Barry Switzer and Pat Jones also made a fun appearance.

A project within the Driving Forward program under the Oklahoma Turnpike Authority, this 21-mile connection between I-40 and I-44/Turner Turnpike helps relieve some traffic congestion and improves travel from Oklahoma City and Tulsa, allowing Oklahomans to arrive safely to their destinations.
