You’ve probably heard that the deadline to get REAL ID is Oct. 1, 2020, but do you even need it? The answer is maybe. Individuals who plan to fly domestically or visit federal buildings, military bases or nuclear facilities will need REAL ID or another federally acceptable document to access these services and facilities after the deadline.
Do you already have a passport or military identification? If so, you’re covered. These forms of identification are federally acceptable and can be used in place of REAL ID. Visit realid.ok.gov for information and to see if you will need REAL ID.
