Data from a National Survey on Drug Use and Health ranked Oklahoma among the highest for prescription drug abuse. In response, the state has introduced two programs as part of a national plan to eliminate drug abuse.

Walgreens is providing Oklahomans access to new “drug drop-off” kiosks to dispose unused or leftover prescription drugs in nine locations. Additionally, the pharmacy is now allowing naxalone, an overdose-reversal drug, to be sold over the counter. The immediate use of naxalone during overdose can reverse its effects.
