The U.S. Postal Service recently issued WW1 Forever stamps commemorating the 100th anniversary of four million American families sending sons and daughters to serve in the Great War. Yes, women; WW1 was the first time women joined the U.S. armed forces.
The U.S. remained neutral until 1917 and engaged in combat in 1918, turning the tide to end the four-year global conflict.
The National WW1 Memorial is being built in Washington, DC to commemorate the centennial. WW1 descendants can register on Roll of Honor. A U.S. Mint 2018 Commemorative Silver Dollar is also available.
