Ten teams of four members each will be competing this Saturday, Oct. 22, to build 18-foot-tall tipis without the assistance of ladders. Categories include men, women and youth.
Round up the family, come enjoy the manual construction of and learn about the cultural relevance of these historical structures at the Festival Plaza at the First Americans Museum.
Visitors are welcome beginning at 11am, while opening remarks and competition will kick off at noon. Winners will be announced at 2pm. At 2:30, dances, drumming and Citizen Potawatomi National Eagle Aviary exhibitions begin. The event is free and open to the public.
