In response to Bloomberg Philanthropies’ 2018 Mayors Challenge, the City of OKC and the Oklahoma City-County Health Department (OCCHD) submitted a proposal on criminal justice reform, focusing on diversion of high-need/low-risk individuals. Knowing the effectiveness of community health workers, the proposal suggests engagement within the system to connect individuals to resources, reducing recidivism and overcrowding.
The proposal also looks at interoperability of data systems both in the criminal justice system and others, such as health and social services data. This is a complementary effort, which would further expand efforts through the Greater OKC Chamber.
