Oklahoma’s Centennial Land Run Monument

by

The Centennial Land Run Monument in Oklahoma City recently added another piece to its collection of engaging statues. The newest sculpture depicts a horse and rider, situated behind two other leading horse-and-rider statues, located at the south end of Bricktown Canal.

With the monument’s newest installation, the initial phase of the Centennial Land Run Monument in Bricktown is now complete. The monument commemorates the opening of the unassigned land in Oklahoma territory during the Land Run of 1889.

The project was authorized by the city council on July 31, 2001, and will eventually showcase 45 pieces once complete.
