Oklahoma offers homeowners affordability, a booming economy and tax-deductible options. Now, residents can also reap the benefits of homebuyer savings accounts, which became available Jan. 1.

“The number one barrier to homeownership is being able to afford a home,” Oklahoma Association of REALTORS® CEO Jessica Hickok said. “Homebuyer savings accounts will put Oklahomans, especially first-time homebuyers, one step closer to achieving the dream of owning a home.”

Qualified persons include anyone who has not owned or purchased a home in the previous three years. Additionally, anyone can contribute to the savings account, allowing parents to set up funds for their children.
