On June 26, Oklahomans will vote on SQ788, which would prevent companies from operating a safe workplace free of drugs. This framework would also allow a special class of employees to use a federal illegal drug without fear of significant penalties.
Drug-induced behavior by an employee could jeopardize a safe workplace environment for others and lead to higher workers’ compensation rates. Imagine an employee who uses this federally unlawful drug on smoke breaks sitting near someone else, while other employees have no right to protect their environment from this skunky odor. Nancy Reagan was right in 1986: “Just Say No.”
