Ever since 1894, when President Grover Cleveland signed a law making the first Monday in September a federal holiday, Americans have celebrated the day with parades, picnics and concerts.

Here are a few ways you can celebrate in Oklahoma:

Oklahoma City:
• Free First Friday Gallery Walk at Paseo Arts Center, Sept. 1
• Free Live @Legacy concert, Sept. 1
• Summer Music Series at RIVERSPORT OKC, Sept. 2
• Oklahoma Dodgers games, Sept. 1, 2 and 3. Kids run the bases Sept 3.

Tulsa:
• Lemon-Aid 2023 Kickoff Party, Sept. 1
• Tulsa Symphony in the Park, Sept. 1
• Escape from Turkey Mountain trail race, Sept. 4
