“Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings,” Marvel Studios’ first superhero movie featuring an Asian lead, has been described by critics as “groundbreaking step of representation” and a “celebration of authentic identity.”

Released on Sept. 3, the film is part of Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Phase Four, which introduces a new wave of superheroes in a post-Endgame world, when half of the population has returned from the “Blip.”

In the movie, Shang Chi, played by Simu Liu, must leave his comfortable life behind to confront his past in China, including his estranged father, an infamous villain known as The Mandarin.
