Tulsans are dreaming of Swedish meatballs and the wood veneers of IKEA, without having to take a four-hour drive to Texas. Artists and chefs are getting involved in the recruitment campaign to bring an IKEA store to Tulsa and they have launched Tulsa Loves IKEA, a multi-pronged effort to capture IKEA’s attention and bring the iconic store to our state.
Some of their initiatives include an art installation made from IKEA’s children’s tables and local chefs opening a pop-up restaurant called Tulsma that features IKEA-inspired dishes. Hopefully soon, thousands of Oklahomans will be a short drive to an IKEA store.
