Two small towns in Oklahoma were recognized in Southern Living’s story The 50 Best Small Towns in the South:
• Guthrie, founded in 1887 as a railroad station, has the nation’s largest contiguous National Register of Historic Places. The story also mentions its Old West feel that makes it a favorite filming location, the rich art and music scene and its reputation as Oklahoma’s Christmas capital.
• It’s all about the outdoors in Broken Bow in Southeastern Oklahoma where golf is popular, visitors flock to the 3,400-acre Beaver Bend State Park and you can learn about forestry at the Forest Heritage Center.
