Smithsonian Remembers Tulsa

by The 100 Companies

One of my favorite magazines is  Smithsonian for its thoroughly researched stories on major American historical events. The cover story in its April issue featured a significant Oklahoma historical event that happened 100 years ago, May 1921.

From the connection to Oklahoma’s 1907 statehood and the inexplicable trigger to survivors’ stories, everyone will learn a new fact about the truth behind the Tulsa riot in two feature articles. The Promise of Oklahoma begins with the push for statehood and the beacon for racial progress, and American Terror describes how the most prosperous Black community in America was attacked.
