The newest exhibit at the Philbrook Museum of Art in Tulsa – “Hearts of Our People: Native Women Artists” – features art created by Native women artists and provides unique perspectives on Native art and the roles Native women play in their communities.
Developed with consultation from leading Native artists and scholars, the exhibit focuses on themes of legacy, relationships and power; and features more than 100 objects dating from 1,000 B.C. to the present day including textiles, baskets, beadwork, pottery, painting, photography, sculpture, poetry, video and more.
The traveling exhibit is on display in the Philbrook Museum’s Helmerich Gallery through Jan. 3.
