Witness the winter solstice at the First Americans Museum

by The 100 Companies

The winter solstice marks the beginning of winter and the day with the fewest hours of sunlight for the entire year. The First Americans Museum’s (FAM) architectural design aligns with the cardinal directions. During the winter solstice, the sun sets through the tunnel embedded in the FAM Mound.

FAM is observing the winter solstice on Tuesday, Dec. 21 from 4:30-6 p.m., and Rev. David Willson (Choctaw) will provide an invocation. This reflective outdoor experience is free and open to the public. The museum’s exhibitions, store and restaurant are closed on Tuesdays.
