Every day we proofread something at home, work or school. When you are ready to edit your work, keep these tips in mind, and become a better writer.
• Concentration is key. Make sure you turn off distracting electronic devices.
• Print it out for editing. Reading aloud from a printed document will reduce your chances of missing an error.
• Read it backwards. Your brain will correct for common errors when proofreading your own writing.
Every great writer or editor should use whatever resources they have available to them when proofreading. Minimizing errors will only build your reputation in the professional community.
