“ArtNow: The Soul Is a Wanderer” is the 2023 edition of Oklahoma Contemporary’s biennial exhibition. This year, the exhibition brings together 13 cross-generational artists.
“The Soul Is a Wanderer” draws inspiration from U.S. Poet Laureate Joy Harjo’s “A Map to the Next World.” The artists respond to the poem’s call to remember the past while journeying beyond the present. Their works capture moments of reckoning and renewal, using Oklahoma as a site for honoring the passage of time while creating self-made futures to strive toward.
