Veterans Day originated as “Armistice Day” on Nov. 11, 1919 — the “eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month” that signaled the end of World War I. It officially became a national holiday in 1938 and commemorates veterans of all wars — honoring those who have fought and continue to fight for our great nation.
Downtown Oklahoma City has several landmarks to honor our veterans every day, which include strolling through Military Park or visiting the Oklahoma Veterans Memorial located on the north side of State Capitol Park.
Thank you to all those who served to protect our nation.
