Many think that city environments are in opposition with nature. In fact, man-made infrastructure was once thought to be the solution to increasing sustainability of cities and communities.
Today, science is showing that natural defenses like forests, wetlands and mussel beds actually improve a city’s sustainability and provide more protection from natural disasters.
Scientists project by 2050, earth’s population will reach nine billion, with two-thirds of people living in cities. With OKC being ranked as one of America’s fastest growing cities, community leaders are coming together to ensure that nature has a major role in our city’s future.
