Literacy is Power for Tulsa Youth

by

Reading is the foundation for all future learning. Today, only one in four Oklahoma fourth-graders is reading at a proficient level and 36% lack even basic literacy skills. If a child doesn’t have proficient reading skills by the fourth grade, he/she is four times less likely to graduate on time.

Tulsans can change these statistics by volunteering one hour a week. Reading Partners helps “children become lifelong readers by empowering communities to provide individualized instruction with measurable results.” If you feel you don’t have one hour a week to spare you can help by donating to Reading Partners.
