Oklahoma’s response to the new 988 Mental Health Lifeline was so significant, we’re dedicating an entire issue to this important campaign.
The Oklahoma Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services in July launched the three-digit helpline as part of a federal mental health and suicide prevention initiative. The call center received more than 18,800 calls/texts in the first six months.
Although it’s a number to celebrate, that figure also quantifies how many Oklahomans need help, and they need it now.
The Oklahoma 100 is proud to shine its light on such an important topic that benefits so many.
