On Friday, Nov. 8, hundreds of students in the Oklahoma City metro area conducted walkouts to support the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program. These walkouts were strategically planned as a part of the “Home Is Here” campaign ahead of the Supreme Court of the United States (SCOTUS) oral hearings regarding the program.

Currently in Oklahoma, there are nearly 7,500 DACA recipients who are attending school, working and contributing to their communities. The fate of these individuals is currently in the hands of SCOTUS, and DACA recipients are facing uncertainty, as a ruling isn’t expected until the spring of 2020.
