Celebrated annually since 1998, Sleep Awareness Week runs March 14-20. The National Sleep Foundation campaign encourages sleep health and prioritizing sleep to improve health and well-being. It commences with the start of daylight saving time (DST).

Benefits to healthy sleeping include a better immune system, increased productivity, a sharper memory, healthier heart, and more. Here are several top tips to encourage better sleep:

• Increase light exposure during the day to help with circadian rhythms.

• Decrease blue light exposure at night (cell phone, TV, computer).

• Reduce naps taken during the day.

• Be consistent with sleep schedules.

• Avoid large meals near bedtime.
