Tulsa’s Legendary Great Raft Race is Back!

by

For the second year in a row, Tulsa will revive the legendary Great Raft Race on Labor Day.

The first race was in 1973, and during it’s peak there were 600 rafts and 4,500 racers participating. Over 150,000 spectators would line the banks of the river to watch fellow Okies raft from Sand Springs to the Tulsa River Parks.

Registration for the race on the Arkansas River is open until August 20. Participants can be creative and build their rafts or canoe, paddleboard or kayak. You might even witness a few friendly naval wars on the Arkansas River.
