Hard to believe, but the Olympic games are headed to Oklahoma City. Los Angeles will host the summer games in 2028 but has negotiated with OKC officials to move softball and the canoe slalom 1,300 miles to the Sooner State.
Softball will take place at Devon Park, which also serves as the annual home of the NCAA Softball World Series. The canoe slalom event will be on the whitewater at Riversport Oklahoma, adjacent to the Oklahoma River.
OKC voters funded the whitewater facility in 2010 as part of MAPS 3. The softball stadium was enhanced through the city’s 2017 Bond Issue.
