reentry program

Incarcerated tribal members get a fresh start with the Citizen Potawatomi Nation Workforce & Social Services Re-entry Program. Lead Counselor Burt Patadal enters local prisons and works with inmates, leading talking circles and infusing Native teachings to give inmates a sense of purpose and self-sufficiency while behind bars.

The program’s goal is to help post-release inmates find employment, affordable housing, finish a GED, attend college and get into substance abuse treatment and behavioral health counseling. Accepted participants can receive help with transportation to and from sessions, acquiring work clothing, education and more.
