October is Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) Awareness Month

by The 100 Companies

October is SIDS Awareness Month, and the Oklahoma City-County Health Department (OCCHD) encourages parents to maintain a safe sleep environment for children. The leading causes of infant mortality are congenital anomalies, prematurity, low birth weight and SIDS. In Oklahoma, SIDS remains one of the top three causes of infant mortality.

OCCHD is committed to raising awareness by providing information about the importance of creating a safe sleep environment to caregivers and the general public. OCCHD promotes the American Academy of Pediatrics guidelines on safe sleep. You can read the latest policy statement from the AAP Task Force on SIDS.
