Cooking up independence

by

For many years, the life expectancy for individuals with Down syndrome was only in the mid-30s. Today, these individuals are living to be 60+ years old and are living fuller, more independent lives. The Down Syndrome Association of Central Oklahoma (DSACO) is giving these individuals the tools to do just that.

Kylee’s Kitchen, a microwave-based cooking program meant to teach and encourage independent living skills, is one of many programs DSACO facilitates. Students learn to create full meals they can easily prepare on their own. To learn more about Kylee’s Kitchen and other DSACO programs, visit dsaco.org.
