Take these lessons (and many more tips) on creating habits from “Atomic Habits” by James Clear:
1. Create identity-based habits. Start by focusing on who you wish to become. The goal isn’t that you want to lose weight, it’s that you want to become someone who eats well and works out.
2. Be intentional and clear. Fill in this sentence, “I will [BEHAVIOR] at [TIME] in [LOCATION].”
3. Design the ideal environment. Work your desired habit into your current daily routine and make it obvious. Want to floss more? Leave your floss on the bathroom counter next to your toothbrush.
