For all of the comic lovers in the Oklahoma City metro area, there is a new Oklahoma-centric comic on newsstands now. Okie Comics Magazine is a bimonthly, free periodical that serves as a showcase anthology for local comic artists. Most of the stories are steeped in Oklahoma culture.
Released in December 2017, the first magazine issue features titles such as “Rose Rocks, an Oklahoma Phenomenon,” which tells the story of Oklahoma’s state rock; “Thunderbird,” a tale about cowboys who encounter an ancient beast on a cattle drive through Oklahoma territory; and “OK2089,” which depicts Oklahoma City in the future.
