Beloved Redbud Classic participant registers for another race, to celebrate 89th birthday

Dorotha Edwards, a beloved figure in the Redbud Classic community, is set to participate in her 26th race this year. Celebrating her 89th birthday just a few weeks after race weekend, Dorotha cites her love for the Redbud as her motivation to keep going.

Known as “Coach Edwards” to her former students, she was the girls’ athletic director at Casady High School for 27 years. Every year, her past students and their families cheer her on, making her participation in the race a special moment for everyone involved.
