Summer heat is kicking in quickly, and so is the abundance of mosquito presence. The Oklahoma City-County Health Department has a series of recommendations to help you reduce your exposure to mosquitoes and better enjoy your summer days.
Steps:
1. Eliminate any potential breeding sites – particularly standing water. Clogged rain gutters, pet bowls, old tires and underneath flower pots are a few places where water can get trapped.
2. Dress appropriately, and try to cover exposed skin to reduce biting targets.
3. If you do show your skin, use a DEET-based insect repellent.
4. Repair any screen doors or windows that have open airways.
